Real Madrid boss, Zinedine Zidane has said that he and his team are upset because they don’t deserve the 2-1 home loss to Manchester City in their Champions League round of 16 first leg tie on Wednesday.

Zinedine Zidane spoke to the press at the Santiago Bernabéu after Gabriel Jesus and Kelvin De Bruyne scored to give Pep Guardiola’s side the advantage going into the second leg at Etihad.

Zidane also blamed some errors leading to the goals for the defeat, as Real Madrid gave away their lead having been in front through Isco’s earlier strike.

“With the game we played, and the good football, it is tough to lose like this again. We are all upset because we played well until the final ten minutes then it all changed,” the Frenchman was quoted by Real Madrid official website.

He added, “The errors hurt because we deserved more. Against a rival like this we need to concentrate until the end.”

Zidane refused to blame any of his players for the loss, insisting that they don’t deserve to lose.

“The ten or twelve minutes at the end were bad from us,” he added.

“The last minutes were tough for us. We lacked concentration. The errors are part of the game, we have to analyse it as best we can.”

Speaking about the second leg away in England, Zidane said if his team wants to get through to the quarterfinals they have to go to the Etihad and win, adding that “Real Madrid can do that.”

He said his team will now focus on their El-Classico game against Barcelona on Sunday. The match will hugely determine who wins the LaLiga title this season.
