The management of Osun State College of Education, Ila-Orangun has demanded a withdrawal of a recent audit report indicting its bursary department.

The Auditor General of the state, Adebisi Folorunsho had after a recent audit, indicted the college Bursar, Dr Olanrewaju Oyedeji, the Provost, Professor Jimoh Afolabi and alleged that the Acting Registrar fraudulently prepared an appointment letter for himself.

The management of Osun State College of Education, Ila-Orangun has demanded a withdrawal of a recent audit report indicting its bursary department.

The Auditor General of the state, Adebisi Folorunsho after a recent audit indicted the college Bursar, Dr Olanrewaju Oyedeji, the Provost, Professor Jimoh Afolabi and alleged that the Acting Registrar fraudulently prepared a letter of appointment for himself.

In a letter to the State’s Commissioner for Education, Oladoyin Folorunsho, Prof Afolabi claimed the audit report which indicted him and others was biased, unfair and should be disregarded.

He expressed concern over the declaration of a state of emergency by the Auditor General on the institution’s bursary department.

Professor Afolabi while describing the Bursar as a knowledgeable and experienced financial expert who does not take unlawful instructions alleged that his zero tolerance for corruption and his stance for justice, fairness and equity were responsible for the recent audit report prepared by the Auditor General.

The college, As stated by the Provost had earlier been audited by a qualified firm of a chartered accountant, being one of the three firms nominated by the office of the Auditor-General and preferred by the College, with no blemish on any of its bursary staff.

Press gathered that the initial audit report of the college by the approved firm was balanced and favourable to the college as it hailed the transparent and accountable stance of the college Bursar.

The Provost also claimed that the institution was free of any financial encumbrance as it was not indebted to any financial institution.

In the new audit report by the Auditor General, the Bursar, Oyediji was accused of financial impropriety and reported to the Osun State House of Assembly.

In the report, the Auditor-General also recommended that the state government declare a state of emergency on the Bursary Department of the college.

The indictment followed an investigation of the finances of the college in line with the provisions of Section 125, Sub-Section 3 (B) and Section 4 of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

The audit report which was signed by the Osun State Auditor-General, Folorunsho Adesina, covered the statutory review of the 2016 to 2019 financial statements of the college and the auditing of the period between January 1, 2019, through to November 2021.
