Your anti-people decision will cost you NASS seat – AA blasts senators - Transmission of results
A political party, Action Alliance (AA), has condemned the position of the 9th Senate for standing against electronic transmission of election results.
It said the decision by the senators concerning the recent move is anti-people and will cost most of the senators, who voted against the reform, their seats come 2023 general election.
Senators, majority of the All Progressive Congress (APC), had voted against the transmission of election results electronically last week, against senators from the opposition Peoples’ Democratic Party(PDP) who voted in favour of the reform.
Hon Adekunle Rufia Omeaje, National Chairman of AA, made this assertion in Benin City, the Edo State capital, during the weekend while receiving new members into the party.
He said, Senators who voted against the reform did so because of greed and fear of failure and that with what they have done, most of them will not make it back to the National Assembly.
According to him, “If our children have been writing exams like JAMB, WASSCE, and NECO, and the results were transmitted electronically, why can’t our election results be transmitted electronically?
“What is so special about transmitting election results that we have not done before. The Independent National Electoral Commission should be allowed to be truly independent, Prof Mahmood Yakubu wants to do the right thing, the commission should be given total independence.”
He urged Nigerian People to rally around and resist what he described as a satanic decision by the Nigerian senate.
Speaking, the Edo State Chairman of Action Alliance, Engr. Israel Iyobosa Goubadia said Nigerian People have seen our elders rule in the past ,but the result had not been the best, therefore the clamour for youths and women.
He maintained that AA is hopeful that Solomon-David Okanigbuan will take Nigeria to the promised land.
Also, speaking, the presidential hopeful, Engr Solomo-David Okanigbuan, thanked the party for accepting him, and said what attracted him was the ideology of the party which tends to accommodate women and youths. He said his vision for Nigeria was to change the narrative and make Nigeria a prosperous nation.
