Governor of Yobe State, Mai Mala Buni has said his administration would give prospective local government chairmen in the state the free will to operate to reduce the burden of governance on his cabinet.
The governor said this on Friday in a statement by his SSA on Digital Media, Isa Sanusi on the occasion of flag presentation to the 17 APC Chairmanship candidates, ahead of the February, 27th LG election in the state.
He said his administration will end the era of deserting the local governments, noting that the prospective chairmen would be entrusted with the responsibilities to run the affairs of their councils.
“If the local government are empowered to operate freely and function the pressure on the state government will be reduced,” Governor Buni said
“The Yobe government will support local governments so that they can keep the wheel of governance moving at the local government council level”.
He also charged the 17 local government council chairmanship candidates of APC to unite the people and work for the people to ensure that, “at the grassroots level governance is moving on effectively”.
