We have designed strategies to bail Zamfara workers from poverty – Gov Matawalle MATAWALLE-1

Zamfara State Governor, Hon. Bello Mohammed Matawalle says his government has designed a strategy to assist civil servants in the state in fight abject poverty and penury.

Addressing the workers at the May Day celebration, Matawalle said his administration was aware of the hardship being faced by civil servants as a result of the non-implementation of the N30,000 minimum wage.

He said he has introduced measures to cushion the effect of the hardship for the civil servants in the state.

“My administration has intensified efforts to address the transportation challenges that workers in the state face, we have purchased 2000 ladies motorcycles for distribution to civil servants on loan”.

The Governor pointed out that the state Government’s employees would receive 1000 motorcycles, Local Government employees would receive 500 motorcycles while the Universal Basic Education Commission employees would receive 500 motorcycles.

Governor Matawalle explained that the loans can be repaid in eighteen months so that the workers would not feel the impact. He said 94,000 bags of rice would be distributed on a loan basis to the State, Local Government Areas, and Universal Basic Education Board(UBEB) employees, saying that the repayment period would be three months.

“Despite our significant accomplishments in the area of security, the recent resurgence of terror attacks by the unrepentant bandits in collaboration with unscrupulous elements has been given the government restless nights”.

“As governments at all levels are putting much efforts to contain the serious security threats that have been ravaging our communities, I would like to use this forum to urge the working class and the general public to be more alert of the security situation in their communities”.
