The All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA) in Lagos, has dissociated itself from the state chapter of the All Progressive Congress (APC).

It also warned members not to romance any other political party, saying such act would attract sanctions.

The party in a statement issued and signed by its State Publicity Secretary, Sanjo Olawuyi, on Wednesday, said the Lagos State Chapter of APGA, under the leadership of Edwin Izuchukwu, is not in any alliance with the newly registered APC, stressing that it has total confidence in the leadership of Victor Umeh, National Chairman of the party.

APGA further announced that it has suspended three members of the fold with immediate effect for defecting to the APC.

The affected members are Adeshina Olayokun, Mrs Oby Ezenna and Mrs Funmilayo Onwubiko, who were until their suspension, executive members of the party in Lagos.

According to Olawuyi, “Lagos APGA is known to be constitutional in its dealings, in line with this, five man disciplinary panel had been constituted, to probe this aforementioned anti-party activities involving this three individuals. The outcome of this panel would be made public as soon as possible”.

“The three defectors do so on their aggrandisement. Similarly, the defection of only three individuals from our party to APC does not in any way constitute a threat to Lagos State APGA; the resultant effect is that, the Lagos State APGA is now doing better and stronger than before, as the defection serves the role of tactical relive our party.

“The suspension of these three individuals from the fold of Lagos State chapter of APGA does not in any way affect the vision, mission, aspiration and the structure of our party. “Instead, it had resulted into injection of new blood into the party, making us stronger than before. Likewise, their suspension from the party signifies a big relief for Lagos APGA.

“Anyone having official or personal political dealings with them on behalf of Lagos State chapter of APGA is doing so on his or her own risk”.

Olawuyi added that the state was gearing up for the 2015 elections, hence the decision of the national body to restructure the Lagos State Executives of APGA, under the supervision and endorsement of the APGA National Vice Chairman, South West, Tayo Showunmi.

“This restructuring has seen Edwin Izuchukwu, who was the Lagos State Deputy Chairman of APGA under the Ex-Chairman, As stated by the party constitution, emerging the Acting Lagos State Chairman of APGA, while Omotola Ayodeji Oluwafemi, who was the Lagos State Secretary of APGA under the Ex-Chairman retaining his position.

“All other chieftains of Lagos State APGA retained their positions, except the two other suspended members, who defected with Adeshina”, he said.
