Ex-Manchester United striker, Robin van Persie, has told the club to make a bid for Paris Saint-Germain’s Edinson Cavani.

Cavani’s current deal expires at the end of this season.

The 32-year-old was heavily linked with both United and Chelsea in the January market, but ended up staying with the Ligue 1 champions.

United went on to seal a six-month loan deal for Odion Ighalo, who will join Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s squad for training this week.

During a Q&A session with his Twitter followers on Monday afternoon, Van Persie was asked which which player the club should sign.

He simply replied: “Edinson Cavani, brilliant player and available #GoalMachine.”

Cavani’s agent and brother, Walter Guglielmone, recently admitted that the player would have gone to the Premier League if he wanted more money.

“Cavani was willing to receive less than with PSG.

“Atletico could not cover the total economic cost of the operation and PSG did not want to lower the amounts he was asking for. Atletico Madrid did not close the agreement.

“Do you think that Edi did not play for almost a month at PSG so that I could drop the operation for a commission and that Edi did not fulfill his dream of going to Atletico Madrid?

“If it were for money, Edi would have gone to England, Manchester or Chelsea,” Guglielmone said.
