Trailer crushes two motorcycle riders in Adamawa

A trailer has crushed two motorcycle riders in the southern part of Adamawa State.

The two died instantly after the trailer ran over them at a road junction in Mayo Belwa, headquarters of Mayo Belwa Local Government Area.

A witness, Muhammad Usman, said of the accident, "The trailer lost control while negotiating a bend at the Jada junction (in Mayo Belwa).

“We learnt that the trailer was heading towards Jalingo on its way to the southern part of the country. It crushed two motorcycle riders at the junction. The riders died on the spot.”

Our correspondent reports that Mayo Belwa, where the accident happened, is a semi-urban town where motorcycles are widely used as a means of conveying residents between the township and outlying villages.

The Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) in Adamawa State, DSP Suleiman Nguroje, confirmed the accident but said an investigation into the cause is still on.
