Three dead, 33 injured in auto crash in Niger

At least, three persons have been said to have died and 33 others injured in a fatal auto crash in Gwachipe bridge in Lambatta, Gurara local government area of Niger State.
It was gathered that the accident occurred at about 12 noon in the vehicle heading to Lagos from Kano.
Eyewitness account stated that the car conveying 36 passengers on board including the driver crashed as a result of overloading and lost control on the bridge and crashed.
The Niger State Sector Commander, Corps Commander Joel Dagwa, who confirmed the accident, stated that it was a lone crash involving a commercial trailer without plate number.
According to him, “36 persons which include 25 male adults, seven female adults, two male children and two female children were involved in the accident. Out of which, three (male) lost their lives, 30 people were seriously injured in the accident. ”
He added that victims of the accident have been taken to the Federal Medical Center in Gawu Babangida and the corpses deposited at the Sabon Wuse Mortuary.
The Suleja-Lambata FRSC outpost route carried out the rescue exercise and conveyed the victims to the hospital.
