A motorcycle operator, known as Okada rider and his passenger went berserk yesterday as they beat officials of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC).

The duo were also accused of breaking the windshield of the FRSC patrol vehicle.

The FRSC spokesperson in Ogun, Florence Okpe, confirmed the incident to Press on Wednesday.

Okpe said the incident occurred at about 10:30 am on the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway.

She said a senior officer of the Corps on routine monitoring of the corridor had noticed a vehicle driving against traffic.

As stated by her, immediately the driver driving against traffic sighted the FRSC vehicle, he was gripped with fear as he swerved and faced the vehicle oncoming behind the FRSC patrol vehicle.

This, she said, made the driver of the FRSC vehicle to pull over so as to prevent the situation from escalating.

“In the process, a speeding motorcycle riding with a pillion (passenger) momentarily lost control of the speeding motorbike, but immediately he stabilised, he stopped and parked the bike and went straight to attack the FRSC team.

“While the motorcycle rider went for the windshield of the FRSC vehicle with registration number, C0180RS, which he slammed heavily with his fist and wilfully got the windshield broken, the pilion on his own went for one of the Marshals and attacked him vigorously.

“Not satisfied they both went to attack other members of the FRSC team,” Okpe explained.

in spite of that, she disclosed that the two “violent” motorcyclists were overpowered and handed over to the DPO, Warewa Police Station.
