A businessman operating a Point of Sales (POS) business and also a Poultry Farmer in Mkpani in Yakurr Local Government Area of Cross River State has been shot dead.
An eyewitness who gave his name as Thomas Agim said the deceased was shot dead about 11pm when he was coming back from work and within his compound.
“We just discovered that somebody was shot dead. We have reported to the Police and they are investigating the matter, no rival attack for now’ he stated.
“The incident occurred in Mkpani, around his premises. He is a young man, he operates a POS centre. The incident occurred around 11pm while he was returning to his house. He equally operated a Poultry Farm” he stated.
Speaking to Press on Tuesday via phone, the Obol Lopon of Mkpani, His Royal Majesty (HRM) Obol Sunday Obono Okoi regretted the incident explaining that the incident occurred within the premises of the deceased.
The Monarch explained that the victim was returning to his place and was attacked very close to his house, about 5 metres away, within his compound because that is still his place.
“When they searched his bags it was only N500 that was discovered and somebody who was operating that kind of business, we don’t expect him to hold that kind of money, only N500 at that time but POS was there, the two phones were there, the Power Bank was there” the Monarch stated adding, “For now, no reprisals”
