Thirty more tractors, 28 hand tractors, 107 bags of fertilizer and 29 cartons of agro chemicals have been recovered by the police in Adamawa State within the last 24 hours.
Information on the recoveries was passed to journalists Thursday morning, less than 24 hours after the police addressed a news conference announcing the recovery of 35 tractors, 28 hand tractors, 742 bags of fertilizer and many other items.
A statement from the state Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Suleiman Nguroje, noted that the 35 freshly recovered tractors bring to 65 the total tractor recovered so far.
Further to the ongoing intensive patrol to reclaim the space and restore normalcy in the state, the command in collaboration with sister security agents made further recoveries of the looted items apart from the already recovered properties.
The command equally apprehended four female suspects and one male suspect in connection with breaking and looting of public, corporate and private warehouses in the state, Nguroje stated.
The state Commissioner of Police, CP Olugbenga Adeyanju had in the course of his media conference of Wednesday paraded 238 suspects: 184 of them charged for alleged looting and 54 allegedly for being out in the public despite a 24-hour curfew.
The arrests and recoveries of items have been a result of a looting orgy that took place mostly around the state capital Yola from Sunday October 25 to the next day when youths, in a bout of End SARS stealing, broke into public and private warehouses and helped themselves with valuable items.
The recoveries must have been aided by an ultimatum handed by Governor Ahmadu Fintiri to looters to return their loot, following which items have continued to be taken to community leaders as instructed by the governor.
