Oyebamiji stated that the Governor had directed the immediate evacuation of students by appropriate authorities in charge of education matters.
While maintaining that the students notified the state government that they were all safe, the governor explained that the directive was relaxed but that they were in constant touch with the Vice-Chancellor of the University of Jos who kept in assuring of the student’s security.
He revealed, in spite of that, that the government decided on the evacuation option when on Friday, reports were received that there was still dangerous as the students were at risk.
Oyetola urged the students not to be distracted but to concentrate on their studies at home, adding that they should use their time at home productively and should not return to Jos until there is an assurance from security agents that all is well.
