Ohanaeze Ndigbo, the pan Igbo socio-cultural organization, has cautioned against the continued detention of the leader of the Indigeneous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu.

The highest Igbo socio-cultural organization envisaged that another round of violence may engulf the southeast if leaders fail to take drastic steps in addressing the situation.

In a statement by its President General, Engr Chidi Ibe, sent to Press on Thursday, Ohanaeze Ndigbo tasked the southeast governors to explore the harmonious relationships between them and President Muhammadu Buhari to secure a soft landing for Kanu for the sustainability of the peaceful atmosphere that returned to the region.

The group urged the leaders to look beyond the immediate situation, forgive Kanu for his excesses and secure his release from the hands of the Federal Government.

Ohanaeze Ndigbo further stressed that the deteriorating situation of things in the region and Nigeria at large, does not require blame games but togetherness and cooperation to surmount.

According to the apex Igbo body, “They must forgive and close ranks, this is not the time for blame, accusations and counter-accusations.

In the same vein, Catholic Bishops of Ibadan Ecclesiastical Province have accused President Muhammadu Buhari-led government of selective administration of justice.
