Most of the ailments and common diseases Nigerian People suffer from are as a result of poor environmental sanitation and lack of sensitisation on how to properly take care of the environment.

This assertion was made by the Director of Community Development Service and Special Project, National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), Salawu Abdulrazaq, during the National Environmental Sanitation Day which was held in Ido-Osun, Egbedore Local Government Area, Osun State.

According to Salawu, the NYSC came to the realisation to embark on the exercise after results from the Health Initiative for Rural Dwellers (HIRD) indicated that most of the ailments that were treated were as a result of poor sanitation and the lack of sensitisation about it.
