As Nigeria marks Democracy Day on Saturday, June 12, a legal luminary, Ntufam Mba Ekpezu Ukweni, Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN) has alleged that the current Nigerian leaders are corrupt and the country needs selfless leaders with a clear vision.

In a statement made available to Press on Friday, Ukweni regretted what the nation and the people are currently passing through.

“We need selfless leaders with clear visions of governance to move the country away from this mess. We do not need leaders who are in power to serve their own interests and pay back others for perceived wrongs done to them or to serve ethnic, tribal or group interests.

"Promises remain unfulfilled and corruption by public functionaries has elevated the status of norms and official practice.

"The much orchestrated anti-corruption fight is now a witch-hunting device to silence opposition and adverse public opinions.

Otherwise, why will it take JUSUN to embark on another strike action that lasted for more than 2 months for Section 121 of the Constitution to be complied with?" he asked
