
The National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS), Ogun State chapter on Saturday elected a new Chairman.
The association now has Damilola Simeon as its new Chairman to pilot the affairs of the association in Ogun State for the next year.
Press reports that Simeon, a student of Tai Solarin College of Education (TASCE), Omu-Ijebu, has taken over from Tomiwa Bamgbose.
In the election, Simeon polled nine votes out of the 10 accredited senators from the 10 higher institutions present at the Alake Sports Centre, Ijeja, Abeokuta, venue of the election.
He was elected unopposed following the withdrawal of other six candidates from the contest, it was gathered.
Press reports that Ekundina Segun Elvis was re-elected as the NANS Vice Chairman in the state.
Other elected officers are Agbeniyi Abiodun (Assistant General Secretary), Odeyemi Ezekiel (Welfare Director), Taiwo Samson (Sports Director), Bello Adewale (Director of Treasury).
Meanwhile, the Special Assistant to the Governor on Students Matters, Azeez Adeyemi, confirmed that the election was peaceful and free of violence.
Adeyemi lauded the Governor Dapo Abiodun government for standing by the students in the state.
