The North Central Muslim Peace Initiative has called on all those attacking Hausa/Fulani communities in the southern part of the country to desist from the barbaric act henceforth.
The group also said the attacks were “unreasonable and unjustifiable”, saying, should the north begin to retaliate, the country will go up in flames.
It equally said the Hausa/Fulani have been living peacefully with their host communities across the country and have been carrying out their legitimate businesses without any act of provocation.
This was disclosed by the President of the Group, Alhaji Saleh Zazzaga, during the group’s stakeholders meeting in Jos, the Plateau State Capital.
Zazzaga maintained that, “Those fueling tensions/ethno-religious crises are the enemies of this nation, who have the intention to cause chaos for their selfish interest.
Zazzaga further called on the Southern Governors and leaders to rise to their responsibilities and nip this emerging menace in the bud so that it will not escalate.
“I therefore call on Northern youths to maintain peace and should not contemplate taking any revenge on attacks meted on northerners in the South”, he stressed.
