Kadpoly lecturer, daughter, commercial driver still in captivity, 2 weeks after - Insecurity

Abducted Kaduna Polytechnic lecturer, Engineer Ramatu Abarshi, her daughter and a commercial driver are still in kidnappers’ den two weeks after their abduction.

Gunmen had on April 24, 2022, abducted the Ex-Head of the Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering, Kaduna Polytechnic, Dr. Ramatu Abarshi, and her daughter, Ameera, near Kasuwan Magani, in Kajuru Local Government Area of Kaduna State.

They were returning from where they had gone to distribute clothes to IDPs in Lere Local Government Area of Kaduna State

Less than two hours after their abduction, the kidnappers demanded for N100m ransom for their freedom.

However, a family source told Press in Kaduna that negotiation had continued as they were begging for a reduction in the ransom.

Kidnapping has become a serious business in Kaduna State.

Only recently, a man, his wife and their sick son were kidnapped.

They released the sick son, who died a few days later while on admission in a hospital, but the kidnappers have demanded for a N5m ransom before the late son’s parents could be released.
