ENDSARS-1

An Ibadan Chief, Oloye Taofeek Adegboyega Adegoke, on Monday, tasked the Inspector General of Police, Mr. Mohammed Adamu and the Commissioner of Police in Oyo State, Mr. Joe Enwonwu, to set up an investigative panel to unravel the circumstances that led to the death of an End SARS protester in Ogbomoso town during the weekend.
Press recalls that Mr. Jimoh Isiaka was on Saturday allegedly shot by a police officer during a protest to demand the ban of Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) at the Owode Police station in Ogbomoso.
Our correspondent, in spite of that, gathered that up till now, the police in the state has not come out to explain who and what led to the killing of the young man by the police officer whose identity has not been revealed.
But, Adegoke while condemning the killing of the deceased, called on the IGP and the Commissioner of police in the state to bring the killer of the deceased to book.
Adegoke, who is the Ajia Balogun of Ibadan while speaking, urged the leadership of all the security agencies in the country to stem the needless killings immediately.
He called on Adamu and Enwonwu to carry out a holistic investigation into the killing with a view to unravel the culprit and ensure that the reprehensible acts are nipped in the bud.
Adegoke spoke further by saying that the culprit must be brought to book to serve as a lesson to erring officers.
He also condemned the attack of the palace of Soun of Ogbomoso, Oba Jimoh Oyewumi which occurred on Sunday.
He said, “I am deeply saddened by the report of extrajudicial killing of the innocent young man and others that sustained injuries during the #End SARS protest in Ogbomoso. This is most unfortunate and condemnable.
“I call on the relevant security and government agencies to ensure that the reprehensible acts are thoroughly investigated and the culprit is brought to book.
“We must ensure that law enforcement agents do not turn their weapons against the very citizens they are supposed to protect.
“I want to implore our security officers to always enforce law and order with every sense of professionalism, discipline, restraint, empathy, and above all, with utmost respect for human life”.
