
Bauchi State Governor, Senator Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed, on Friday, described the death of the first civilian governor of Lagos State, Alhaji Lateef Kayode Jakande, as a monumental loss to Nigeria and the media industry.
Governor Mohammed stated this in a condolence letter to his Lagos State counterpart, Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu.
According to a statement signed by his Senior Special Assistant (Media), Muktar Gidado made available to Press, Governor Mohammed conveyed the deepest condolences of the government and people of Bauchi State to the government and people of Lagos State over the demise of the veteran journalist.
“Late Jakande was a nationalist, a political icon and an acclaimed champion of social justice. These sterling qualities will forever remain in our hearts,” Gidado quoted the governor as stated.
He then prayed that the Almighty Allah bless the deceased with Aljanna Firdaus and grant his family, the people of Lagos State and other Nigerian People the fortitude to bear the loss.
