FG conducts energy audit to ascertain power requirements for Nnewi industrial cluster

The member representing Nnewi North, Nnewi South and Ekwusigo federal constituency, Hon Chris Azubogu, has disclosed that the federal government has conducted an energy audit on industrial cluster in Nnewi, Anambra State.
Azubogu, who spoke with journalists at the weekend, said the audit which was facilitated by him would help ascertain the amount of power needed to drive businesses in the cluster.
He added that Nnewi was one of the Nigeria’s oldest and only surviving indigenous manufacturing hub, and that his effort to ascertain the energy requirements for the cluster would help boast businesses in the area once power was restored.
“We have gotten to the point that we have to find a way of providing affordable energy for our economy so that we keep businesses thriving with its attendant jobs.
“It is my believe as an engineer, that you have to first of all know what the problem is all about before proffering solutions.
“This issue led us to conduct Energy Audit to ascertain the power requirements of our clusters, in order to be guided with the data generated therein while searching for solutions,” he said.
He stated that government is currently looking for affordable or eco-friendly power supply to the areas to quickly energize the economy for quickened competition that will crash the cost of manufacturing within the cluster and create jobs for young people.
