Don’t politicize open defecation laws – Jigawa Monarch tells Government - 2023
The Emir of Ringim, Dr. Sayyadi Abubakar Mahmud has charged authorities not to politicize the recently enacted law on Open Defecation Free (ODF) by the Jigawa State Government.
The first class Emir made the call when he received members of the State committee on ODF when they paid him a courtesy visit in his palace, Ringim.
He said non-interference on the implementation of the law would enable traditional rulers to contribute to the full enforcement of the law.
Represented by the Galadima of Ringim, Alhaji Aliyu Muhammad, he explained that open defecation is un-lslamic and socially and economically not acceptable.
“We are hoping that the recently enacted laws on open defecation free by the State Government would not be politicized to enable traditional rulers to contribute to the full enforcement of the law,” he stated.
The Emir directed all district heads in the emirate to ensure that the programme was permanently sustained in their respective Districts.
He stressed the need for recruitment of more sanitation inspectors, urging the government to also construct more public toilets, especially in motor sparks, markets and Tsangaya lslamic schools across the State.
Chairman, Ringim Local Government, Hon. Shehu Sule assured that the Local councils will do their best to ensure the full implementation of the law.
The acting Chairman of the committee and managing Director RUWASA, Engineer Labaran Adamu said the committee’s visit was to consult with district heads on ways to ensure full sustainability of the open defecation free in the four cleared local government areas.
