Defend our country’s sovereignty now- Gov Bello to Nigerian youths
Kogi Governor Yahaya Bello has called on youths in the country to defends the sovereignty of Nigeria saying the country can not afford to break up.
Bello made the call on Friday at the Government House in Lokoja when youths from the National Youth Council of Nigeria, (NYCN), National Association of Kogi State Students, (NAKOSS), and National Association of Nigeria Students, (NANS), made a one million match in commemoration of the 30th anniversary of Kogi State.
Bello said the country belongs to everyone hence the need for the youths to join hands towards ensuring that the sacrifice of the nation’s founding fathers is in vain.
Represented by his Chief of Staff, Jamiu Asuku, the Governor said Nigerian youths should decide the fate of the nations, and must not be used by enemies of the country to perpetrate crimes and criminality.
He urged Nigerian youths to be law-abiding saying ” embarking on crimes in the country will not move this country forward. We as youths must come out and defend the unity of Nigeria”.
Bello called on the youths to always give peace a chance adding that it is on record that the state has never witness religious, tribal or any form of crisis since it was created in 1991.
The Governor reiterated his administration’s commitment to protecting lives and properties in the state.
Earlier, the Kogi State Chairman, National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN), Ambassador Samuel Usman Ogohi rated Governor Yahaya Bello’s fit on the security of lives and property high.
Ogohi said the visit to the Governor was part of the council’s activities for the celebration of thirty years of the creation of Kogi State.
