COURT

An Osogbo Magistrates’ Court has ordered the remand of a 30-year-old man, Wasiu Abiodun for jumping bail and failing to face trial.
The Police prosecutor, ASP Abiodun Fagboyinbo informed the court that the accused person was charged to court for defrauding one Alhaja Sakirat Abdullazeez of N2,400,000.
He alleged that the accused person intentionally disrespected the court by being absent from court on April 4, 2019; April 11, 2019; May 2, 2019; June 3, 2019; August 15, 2019; October 3, 2019; December 16, 2019; February 6, 2020 and February 24, 2020, when his case was mentioned.
The prosecutor said the offence committed by the accused person is contrary to and punishable under Section 126 of the Criminal Code Cap 34 Vol ll Law of Osun State 2002.
The accused person pleaded not guilty to the allegation levelled against him.
Defence Counsel, Oluseye Oluyonbo prayed the court to grant his client bail in the most liberal term.
He stated that the accused person has been in one custody or the other in connection with his Ex-case.
Oluyonbo explained that the accused person was picked by EFCC and remanded in Ado Ekiti correctional centre, adding that he was just discharged from Omu Aran custody from the offence he was convicted of and which he was fined on August 13, 2019.
Presiding Magistrate, Adijat Oloyade ordered the remand of the accused person at Ilesa Correctional Centre pending his trial.
Oloyade said the defence counsel does not deem it fit to inform the court that his client is in another case which caused the arrest of his two sureties.
She, thereby, adjourned the case till October 22, 2020, for hearing.
