Clergy calls for peace, togetherness in work places - May Day
Tiamiyu Saheed Oluwatosin
Rev. John Joseph Hayab has appealed to Nigerian workers to make the workplace an environment that promotes togetherness for the healing and restoration of love in the country.
He made the call while felicitating with workers on the occasion of the 2021 May Day celebrations.
Hayab, who is the Director of the Global Peace Foundation says the workplace should be devoid of acrimony that would stand against the wheel of progress in all spheres of life.
He said, “In our places of work, we should see ourselves as a team and a family bounded for the greater good of the organization we are serving irrespective of our differences.”
“Workers should be aware that the world is our common home. Thus we are responsible to respect, protect, and live in harmony with the natural environment and avoid issues that will be detrimental to our collective responsibility as an entity as a people that should pursue the same goal.”
Rev. Hayab noted that everyone must strive to serve by fostering a social environment in which innate creativity can flourish, enabling people to create value, solve problems, and build a world where all people can have a meaningful and fulfilling life.

“This we can do by flushing out bad eggs among us who will stand against the goodwill of our founding fathers, ensuring that everybody is carried along through equal share of our resources,” he stressed.
Rev Hayab appealed to the government and all employers of labour to treat workers and staff with love and respect, pointing out that when staff receive love, care, respect and equal treatment at the workplace, they will come home with joy and transmit the same love, care and respect to their families.
“There is so much frustration, anger, pains and disappointment in our society today because workers are not getting good treatment from their employers and they are not equally treated.”
“We can not talk about peace without talking about the welfare of workers in our country and the world at large. The government of the day must rise to the occasion by ensuring that the workers are rightly motivated in all spheres of life to get the best from them for the overall development of the country.”
“May God bless all those who are rendering many and different selfless services to make our world better and peaceful. We should not forget to work together because we all come from God Almighty and are members of one human esteem family under God.”
