Experts have given a breakdown, As stated by ages and time, the best time of the day to have sex.

The optimal time for sleep and sex changes as we grow older, said Dr Paul Kelley, from Oxford University’s Sleep and Circadian Neuroscience Institute in the UK.

“Your body clock changes with age; when you feel like waking up. It controls every body system and every one of the trillion cells in your body.

“In most things we’ve got the timings right, but we haven’t accounted for these changes”, he said.

Below are guidance from Dr Kelley as published by bodyandsoul.com.au

20s – 3PM

Discussing the sexual habits of the typical 20-year-old, Kelley says they can be inclined to make love at any time “but the timing of it is often set in opportunity, so they’re less likely to be together when they’re thinking of it.

“When you think about your partner in that way it’s by no means an appropriate time [to see them for sex].”

Kelley recommends people in this age group wake at 9:30am and go to sleep at 1:00am. He explains that wakefulness is controlled by two hormones: one that encourages sleep (melatonin) and one that makes you more alert (orexin).

30s – 8:20AM

People in their 30s should wake up earlier (8:10am) than those in their 20s, As stated by Kelley, because the shift in their body clocks makes them rise earlier in the day. New parents are advised to slot in a power nap at 3:40pm and have dinner around 8pm.

A 30-year-old person needs dinner about an hour and a half after they finish work, which leaves plenty of time to digest their evening meal before 11:40pm says the recommended bedtime.

40s – 10:20PM

The best time for sex changes as you get older, and at around 10.30pm it can relax you more by releasing oxytocin, which helps you rest.

Maximise your rest period by heading to bed before midnight, allowing enough shut-eye to reinvigorate you for the next day. Wake up at 7:50am says your body will naturally feel more alert earlier by age 40, Kelley says.

50s – 10PM

At this age, sex is better scheduled in the evening because the mornings are fairly busy. A hectic day also requires an early night (10:30pm).

If you want to have a drink, have it in the early evening, as liver function is slower at this age and the body needs time to process alcohol before bed.

60s – 8PM

This is the best time to make love in your 60s says striking a balance between dinner and bed. After an orgasm, you release oxytocin, the wakeful hormone. At 10pm, melatonin spikes, making this a perfect bedtime.

In your 60s, your body reverts to rising at around 6:30am, just like in children. An early dinner (6:30pm) is recommended to minimise the risks of indigestion and heartburn.

70s – 8PM

Similar to 60-year-olds, having sex at this time helps you relax ahead of bed. As 70-year-olds may wake frequently in the night, it’s advisable to get to bed early to best set you up for a full night of sleep.

People in their 70s need an early breakfast (6:30am) and lunch around midday, because their day is typically so full of activities.
