APC youths vow to support young presidential candidate in 2023
The youth wing of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in North West Nigeria, on Wednesday vowed to support any youth willing to contest as a presidential candidate in 2023.
APC youth leader in North West, Honourable Abubakar Sadiq Fakai speaking during a press briefing at the party's Zonal Office in Kaduna on Wednesday, noted that statistics have shown that women and youths constitute about 70% of the 40 million APC registered members nationwide.
According to him, youths constituted about 55% of the party executives that emerged from the ward and local Government congress respectively.
He said, APC youth would vote massively for any youth who indicated interest to contest for presidential ticket, adding that, nothing would stop APC youth from supporting any member of their constituent as a presidential candidate in 2023.
He said youths are not challenging their leaders or fighting them and will not do anything against the legal proceedings of the party.
On zoning, he said APC constitution recognises merit and integrity of the aspirant, not where he comes from, advising the party to be concerned on who will get majority votes of Nigerian People to win the election.
"All we know is that zoning is about understanding among the leaders and the party has no position for zoning which we all know. In 2014, the primary took placed based on merit; based on who has all it required to win election.
"I believe it will be same this time. Now, all we are after as a progressive party is who can deliver, who can win the votes and win the elections for us,' he said.
