Africa’s COVID-19 cases near 3.9 million

The Africa Centres for Disease Control and Prevention on Monday confirmed that COVID-19 cases in Africa has reached 3,891,047.
According to the continental disease control and prevention agency’s COVID-19 dashboard, the death toll relating to the pandemic now stands at 103,519.
It also revealed that a total of 3,463,677 people infected with COVID-19 had recovered across the continent.
The Southern Africa region is the most COVID-19-affected area on the continent, followed by the Northern Africa region, As stated by the agency.
The African countries with the highest number of positive cases include South Africa, Morocco, Tunisia, Egypt, and Ethiopia.
Meanwhile, Nigeria on Sunday recorded 240 fresh cases of coronavirus (COVID-19) in 13 States and the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja.
The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control, NCDC, also confirmed that the nation now has a total number of 155,657 confirmed cases.
So far, 1,907 persons have died of the disease in the country.
