The Governing Board of National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has approved the promotion of 99 commanders.
Sunday Joseph Nbona was promoted to Deputy Commander General of Narcotics (DCGN) from Assistant Commander General of Narcotics (ACGN).
Nbona, Chief of Staff to the NDLEA Chairman and Director of Prosecution and Legal Services, becomes the first-ever DCGN.
Five Commanders of Narcotics (CN) are now Assistant Commander General of Narcotics (ACN); Thirty-three Deputy Commanders of Narcotics (DCN) are now on CN level.
Additionally, sixty staff on ACN rank have been elevated to DCN.
NDLEA chief, Col. Muhammad Mustapha Abdallah (rtd) urged them to continue to distinguish themselves.
“This promotion is in recognition of your outstanding performance over the years. It is expected that it will spur you to put in your best in the service of the agency and the nation”, he said.
The exercise marks the final lap of the promotion exercise started in 2018.
Before now, six Commanders of Narcotics became ACGN, while five others were upgraded to CN’s.
In all, 1,311 staff were promoted to the next ranks.
