Rio Ferdinand has said that Manchester United is justified over their decision to sack Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

The Ex-England defender, in spite of that, slammed his Ex-club for lack of decisiveness over the sacking of the Norwegian.

Rio Ferdinand had maintained that Solskjaer should be sacked following the lack of attitude among Manchester United players which had led to a series of bad results.

There were shocking defeats against Aston Villa, Leicester City and Young Boys, followed by embarrassing losses to Liverpool and Manchester City before the international break. But the 4-1 defeat to Watford on Saturday appeared to be the final straw.

Solskjaer was shown the exit door at Old Trafford on Sunday morning, leaving the Red Devils 8th in the league table having won just one game in their last seven matches.

The club's hierarchy has since handed the baton to assistant coach, Michael Carrick who will work as caretaker manager pending the appointment of an interim boss.

And Ferdinand hit out at the timing, as well as United's plan to wait until the end of the season to name their next permanent boss.

“I said at the beginning of the season he'll be judged this season, the spirit came back, the expectation levels were bubbling again and I think the club are justified in sacking him. Because of the recent results, I don't think Ole will dispute that,” he told Vibe With FIVE.

“But the club hasn’t been decisive enough, they let it linger on to a point now where we're now sitting here with an interim, before an interim, before the real manager.

“What is that? And you had two weeks during the international break to sort things out and the narrative would be very different.

“At least get the house in order. We look like a dishwasher going mad at the moment on a Sunday afternoon after a mad roast.”

Manchester United’s first test after Solskjaer’s sack will be their crucial Champions League match against Spanish side Villarreal on Tuesday night.
