1. Presidential media aide, Garba Shehu, yesterday, said that what the President Muhammadu Buhari administration has done to bandits is worse than declaring them terrorists. Shehu, the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity, said this while speaking with BBC Pidgin on Saturday.

2. The 11 power Distribution Companies (DisCos) have gotten approval from the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC) to slightly increase electricity tariff from Wednesday, September 1. This was confirmed on Saturday through a notification to customers from the Eko Electricity Distribution Company (EKEDC) dated 25th August, 2021.

3. Gunmen have killed a herder identified as Goma Haruna and injured three others during an attack on a Fulani camp behind LEA Nomadic School, near Gwako village, Gwagwalada area of Abuja. The Spokesperson of the FCT Police Command, ASP Maryam Yusuf, confirmed the incident.

4. Prince Uche Secondus, the embattled National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has complied with the court order to stay off the National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting of the opposition party. A court in Calabar, Cross River State, had restrained him from presiding over the NEC meeting of the party, which is ongoing.

5. Sir Victor Uwaifo, a prominent highlife Musician, is dead. As stated by Uwaifo Peter de Rock, one of his children, the musician died on Saturday. The deceased once served ass Commissioner for Arts and Culture in Edo.

6. Three residents of Maryland, United States of America, face indictment for attempting to illegally export arms and ammunition to Nigeria. As stated by the Department of Justice, U.S. Attorney's Office, District of Maryland, the suspects allegedly exported arms and ammunition without obtaining export licenses, in violation of the Arms Export Control Act and the Export Reform Control Act.

7. Victims of the Yelwa Zangam Community of Jos North Local Government Area were buried on Saturday concerning tears and pain. Their bodies were taken from the Jos University Teaching hospital, JUTH to Yelwa Zangam concerning tight security. A total of 16 bodies were conveyed in two trucks.

8. The National Executive Council of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has approved Abuja for the party's elective national convention scheduled for Oct. 30 and 31. The party’s National Publicity Secretary, Mr Kola Ologbondiyan, disclosed this while reading the resolutions of the party's 92nd NEC meeting on Saturday in Abuja.

9. The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has condemned the alleged shooting of a civilian market boat ferrying foodstuffs and other household goods in Dutch Island area of Rivers. The party stated this in a statement issued by its National Publicity Secretary, Mr Kola Ologbondiyan, in Abuja on Saturday, also calling for an investigation into the incident.

10. The Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, has denied any plans to carry out attacks on journalists in Nigeria, saying Journalists are their dependable allies, and will never be attacked. IPOB in a statement by its Media and Publicity Secretary, Emma Powerful, said that the group has nothing against the Nigerian Union of Journalist, NUJ, and will support and defend the union.
