1. The 2021 edition of the BBNaija reality TV show officially kicked off on Saturday, July 24 at exactly 7:30 pm. The host of the show, Ebuka Obi-Uchendu announced the theme of the 2021 edition of the show as ‘Shine Ya Eye.’ Only male housemates were introduced into the Big Brother house on Saturday. The ladies are expected in the house today.

2. An unidentified axeman is currently engaged in a killing spree in Ahaba village in Orodo community in Mbaitoli Council Area of Imo State. As stated by reports, he has beheaded three persons and chopped off the hands of at least five persons. Commissioner of Police, CP Abutu Yaro told the residents to defend themselves against the aggressor.

3. Attempts by political thugs to kidnap Lagos State Independent Electoral Commission (LASIEC) officials at Orile-Agege were on Saturday prevented by police operatives. Thugs numbering over 500 attempted to invade polling booths at Mulero to disrupt the Local Government Election, snatch ballot boxes and kidnap the officials.

4. The Youth Wing of the Christian Association of Nigeria (YOWICAN) on Saturday said the next President should be a Christian to ensure balance in leadership. This was contained in a communique at the end of the National Executive Council (NEC) meeting of YOWICAN and read by its National Chairman, Belusochukwu Enwere.

5. Ibrahim Salami, one of the Cotonou-based lawyers of embattled Yoruba Nation agitator, Sunday Igboho has decried the unfair treatment meted on his client in the custody of Brigade criminelle in Benin Republic. Salami, spoke on Saturday during an interview with BBC Yoruba.

6. The Benue State Governor, Samuel Ortom, yesterday described as unfortunate, the response of the Presidency to the address of Catholic Bishop of Sokoto Diocese, Bishop Matthew Kukah to the United States Congress Committee on Foreign Affairs regarding the wave of insecurity in the country. Ortom made the reaction in a statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Terver Akase, stating that he stands with the Bishop.

7. There were reports on Saturday that an Air Peace flight crash-landed on Friday in Ilorin after it had a burst tyre. But the airline refuted the report in a statement on Saturday by its management. While admitting a burst tyre, it said there was no accident as widely reported.

8. The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, on Saturday described Governor Yahaya Bello of Kogi State as a colossal failure and catastrophic bad luck. PDP's National Public Secretary, Kola Ologbondiyan made the remark during his tour of the party's formations in Kogi State.

9. At least, six Cameroon soldiers were killed Saturday in an attack by Boko Haram in the far north of the country, the governor of the region said on state television. The attack took place in Sagme, a few kilometers from the border with Nigeria, from where Boko Haram originates.

10. The Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN has reiterated the financial soundness, safety, and resilience of Deposit Money Banks (DMBs) and Other Financial Institutions (OFIs) in the country. Acting Director, Corporate Communications Department, CBN, Osita Nwanisobi disclosed this over the weekend in Abuja.
