MOYES-CARDIFF1

David Moyes has said that Manchester United’s best is still to come and urged his players to try to replicate their performance in the 5-0 win over Bayer Leverkusen regularly.

The Red Devils recorded their biggest victory under the new manager on Wednesday, as they qualified for the knockout stages of the Champions and Moyes says such displays should become frequent.

“It was a great result for us, but the best days are still to come. And there will be even better days to come. We played well and won well with some outstanding performances,” he said in his post-match news conference.

“To come to Germany and win 5-0, they have got a great record here Leverkusen, so that puts it in perspective as well. That is the most pleasing aspect: coming away from home, scoring five goals in what is renowned as a difficult place to come.

“The goals will take the headlines, but we had to defend and getting a clean sheet is as pleasing. The whole team performance: it’s the best we have played. This kind of performance is something I want to do regularly, not now and then.”
